Friends of Lopez Lake is dedicated to funding and developing educational, interpretive recreation programs at Lopez Lake, including an active volunteer group. They also work to develop camping and riding areas for equestrians.

Friends of Lopez Lake and SLOPOST opened a new Horse Camp in 2006 at Lake Lopez called Black Bear Camp. There are 14 portable horse corrals, water trough, porta-potty, bbq, picnic tables, fire rings, water spigots, and two back stops for manure disposal. There are approximately 21 miles of riding trails. Depending on the rig sizes it can hold approximately 10-15 rigs. Bring your own water buckets, hay bags and rakes to clean your stalls. The views are spectacular! To make a reservation at the Lopez Lake Equestrian Camping Areas, click here.
